A diverse panel with varied backgrounds and lived experiences shares expertise, thoughts, and perspective on the topic of workplace and financial inclusion. The conversation also explores the challenges and opportunities for people with disabilities and how intersectionality impacts full participation in the banking system and bringing one’s whole self to work. Panelists include Annette Howard, Vice President, Human Resources Consulting Partner at Wells Fargo; Michael Morris, JD, Founder and Senior Strategic Advisor of the National Disability Institute; and Andrew Holbrook, Senior Vice President, Strategy, Digital & Innovation and Enterprise President of the Disability Connection Employee Resource Network at Wells Fargo. The panel will be moderated by Dennis Malinis, Global Accessibility Lead for Diverse Segments, Representation, and Inclusion at Wells Fargo.

Dennis joined Wells Fargo in 2017 where he was instrumental in standing up the Enterprise Accessibility Program Office which sponsored and implemented accessibility initiatives to mitigate risk, promote compliance to federal regulations, and build inclusive products and services for our customers and employees with disabilities.

Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Dennis worked as a management and technology consultant for companies such as Oracle NetSuite and IBM Global Business Services managing enterprise transformation programs for clients in diverse industries implementing process and technology solutions to support key operational processes such as sales enablement, finance and accounting, and supply chain management. With over 20+ years of experience in leading enterprise programs and projects, Dennis brings critical experience in leading teams through transformative change. 

Dennis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH; a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance and a Master of Science in Information Systems Management degree, both from Loyola University Chicago’s Quinlan Graduate School of Business in Chicago, IL. Additionally, he holds the Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) certification from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals; the Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification from the Scrum Alliance; and the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.

Dennis, his spouse Nicole, and their three dogs currently reside in Minneapolis, MN but will be moving to Charlotte, NC later in 2021. In his personal time, Dennis practices the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu martial arts and enjoys mountain biking and snowboarding.

Annette Howard is a Human Resources professional with over 20 years of experience in a variety of organizations. A graduate of North Carolina Central University, Durham, NC with a B.B.A. in Business, Annette began her career with State Farm Insurance Company as a Claims Adjuster in Charlottesville, VA.  

Annette found her niche in Human Resources with Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation as a Benefits Representative. During her career Annette has held many roles, including Assistant HR Manager, HR Manager, Regional HR Manager, HR Business Partner and HR Strategy Consultant with Sara Lee Companies, Hanes Corporation and Wachovia.
Her breadth of experience is in employee engagement, organizational design, diversity and inclusion, talent and change management through mergers and acquisition across varied domestic and international geographies.

Annette is currently an HR Consulting Partner at Wells Fargo and her HR knowledge and thought leadership is sought after by her peers and local industry HR professionals to advance their businesses and careers.

Annette also serves on the Disability Connection Enterprise Leadership team as the Employee Resource Network HR Consultant supporting and providing thought leadership. She has received her DE&I Certification, is a Certified Executive Coach and is a Certified Team Performance Practitioner.

Presently, Annette resides in Charlotte, NC with her dog Jojo. She is also a caregiver to her brother with intellectual needs. 

Andrew Holbrook (SPEAKER)

Andrew is an Analytic Manager on the Integration, Data and Analysis team in Strategy, Digital & Innovation. His team forecasts and tracks account opens in the digital channel and works with business partners to identify additional opportunities for growth and efficiency. While Andrew’s core focus is digital, he and his team collaborate across Wells Fargo to provide analysis driving efficiencies in Product, Operations, Marketing, and across channels.

Andrew joined Wells Fargo in 2013, leading Customer Analytics in Consumer Credit Solutions Marketing. 

Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Andrew worked at JPMorgan Chase for seven years. There he held many leadership roles in Consumer Bank Marketing, including Head of Mass Media & Cross-sell and Head of Campaign Analytics. Before entering financial services, Andrew was an Assistant Professor at the University of New Orleans, leading research and teaching classes in public opinion and statistics. 

Andrew obtained a B.A. in Political Science at Wright State University. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from Ohio State University. 

Andrew currently serves on the Careers Committee of the American Political Science Association. He is also on the Advisory Board of the Department of Political Science at Ohio State.

Outside and inside of work Andrew has been an advocate for people with disabilities. He is currently the Enterprise President of the Disability Connection Employee Resource Network, having previously served as the Enterprise Vice President and Membership & Chapter Development Chair. 

When not on the stagecoach, you will likely find Andrew on a sailboat. He races in the J-105 and Express 37 fleets in the San Francisco Bay, and charters boats around the world when on vacation. 

Andrew and his wife, Sarah, live in San Francisco, CA with an extremely spoiled cat, Axel.

Michael Morris, JD (SPEAKER)

-Founder and Senior Strategic Advisor of the National Disability Institute

Michael Morris, JD is the founder and Senior Strategic Advisor of National Disability Institute. He received his undergraduate degree in political science with honors from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and his law degree from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a former legal counsel to the US Senate Subcommittee on Disability Policy and the US Senate Small Business Committee. He serves as a subject matter expert on employment, economic advancement, financial inclusion and poverty reduction concerning youth and adults with disabilities to the FDIC, OCC, FRB, IRS and US Departments of Education, Labor and Health and Human Services. He was the first Kennedy Foundation Public Policy Fellow and worked in the office of Senator Lowell Weicker (CT).

In 2015, Mr. Morris helped establish the ABLE National Resource Center, a collaborative of 25 of the largest, national nonprofit disability organizations. The Center’s website is the leading independent source of information about state ABLE programs and since 2016 has had over five million page per views.

In 2019, Mr. Morris established the Center for Disability-Inclusive Community Development (CDICD) to increase opportunity for partnerships between financial institutions and public and private agencies providing support and services to people with disabilities and their families. He is the moderator of the Center’s podcast series titled, “Keys to Financial Inclusion,” that provides insights and advice from leaders in the financial and disability communities.

In 2020, Mr. Morris was awarded the Ketchum Prize by the FINRA Foundation for his extraordinary leadership in creating a better economic future for people with disabilities through advocacy, research and education.

Getting Around River Run Village

River Run Village has a complimentary shuttle service that will pick you up and drop you off almost anywhere within River Run. Shuttles work on a rotation and pick-up passengers about every twenty minutes. Contact each hotel above for their nearest pick-up and drop-off location and for more information..
